The Role:
We are seeking an up-and-coming safety practitioner who is looking to make the next leap in their career to the role of Work, Health and Safety Advisor based in our Melbourne office. The focus of the role will be on providing support to our operational, site-based, leaders and team members in meeting their obligations under Work Health and Safety and Environmental Protection Legislation and Assetlink's Integrated (WHSEQ - Work Health Safety, Environmental and Quality) Management System.

You will be either early in your Safety / WHS career, or someone who is wanting to make a transition from an adjacent sector such as Operations.
You will be a true team player, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You will have exceptional attention to detail, including in undertaking incident reviews, . You thrive being on the ground with team members, supporting their safety culture, within prescribed frameworks.
Additionally, it will be important to have the ability to analyse stakeholder requests and make decisions that are in line with compliance requirements, the organisation, and our team members’ best interests with guidance and support from the National Safety and Risk Manager. The ideal candidate will be seeking a role where they will receive coaching and mentoring from a highly experienced industry leader to further their safety career.
Reporting to the National Safety and Risk Manager, you will:
· Support operational managers and teams in implementing and contributing to continual improvement of Assetlink's WHSEQ Management System, including risk control strategies and frameworks.
· Build WHSEQ implementation capability in operational leaders and team members.
· Partner with operational management and team members to advise them on all aspects of WHSEQ implementation and compliance.
· Support operational teams in all aspects of their WHSEQ processes within known limits and established hazards.
· Facilitate reviews, and report on, significant incidents with the aim of continually improving WHSEQ performance
· Undertake WHSEQ assurance activities (including WHSEQ site inspections and audits).
· Be committed to being part of a high-performance team focused on delivering excellent customer service
Essential background
· Completed or progressing toward completion of Cert V in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent industry experience.
· Ability to interpret and apply WHSEQ:- legislation, management system requirements, client requirements, policies, procedures and standards
· Ability to build the WHSEQ capability of, and positively influence, operational leaders, team members and other stakeholders.
· Ability to manage competing WHSEQ priorities and re-prioritise to meet emerging needs (including incident response).
· Excellent communication skills - written and verbal and good attention to detail.
· The role requires a strong on-site presence, with regular visits to our locations to support operational leaders in managing WHSEQ risks and issues. Willingness to travel to and work at operational sites (both local and interstate) and a valid driver's license will be required.

· Ability to act as a trusted sounding board for site leaders and team members
· Strong work ethic – ability to work successfully both independently and as part of the broader WHSEQ support team.
