The Opportunity

Join the leadership team of an A-grade regional shopping centre and take ownership of maintenance operations across a dynamic, high-performing retail environment. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead a dedicated maintenance team to deliver excellence in safety, compliance, and presentation, ensuring the centre operates seamlessly and is always at its best. You’ll champion a proactive, solution-driven approach to facilities management — working closely with Centre Management to enhance the customer experience and support retailer success every day.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead, supervise, and develop the maintenance team, providing coaching, performance feedback, and support.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) program across all centre assets.
  • Oversee all reactive maintenance to ensure timely, cost-effective solutions.
  • Ensure full compliance with WHS, fire safety, and local council requirements.
  • Manage service providers and contractors, ensuring works are delivered safely and efficiently.
  • Drive asset lifecycle management, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Collaborate with Centre Management and other stakeholders to ensure operational needs are met with minimal disruption.
  • Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and proactive problem-solving.

About You

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring a mix of technical expertise, leadership experience, and customer focus.

You will have:

  • Proven experience in maintenance or facilities management within a retail, commercial, or public-use environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage teams and manage contractors.
  • Solid technical knowledge of building systems, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, fire services, plumbing, and general repairs.
  • A solution-focused mindset, with the ability to balance hands-on work and strategic oversight.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Relevant trade qualification and/or tertiary qualification in Facilities Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Sound knowledge of WHS legislation (WHS certification highly regarded).
  • Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Additional certifications such as First Aid or Working at Heights are desirable.

Working Hours

  • Full-time, Mon-Friday 8:00am to 16:00pm
  • Weekend or after-hours work may occasionally be required for scheduled works or emergencies.
