About the Role

The Airport Waste Program and Education Officer plays a critical role in managing waste operations at Perth Airport ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting sustainable practices. A key focus of this role is the coordination and implementation of waste and resource recovery programs for sustainable waste management at the airport terminals.. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to reduce waste, enhance recycling efforts, and ensure safe and compliant disposal of all waste streams, including general, recyclable, hazardous, and quarantine waste.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee waste collection, segregation, transportation, and disposal at the airport.
  • Maintain and monitor waste infrastructure, including bins, compactors, and collection points.
  • Develop and implement sustainability initiatives to reduce waste and improve recycling.
  • Conduct training, awareness and incentives programs for staff and stakeholders on waste management.
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental and biosecurity regulations.
  • Promote WHS practices and principles.
  • Maintain accurate records, submit reports, and conduct waste audits.
  • Attend regular key stakeholder meetings.
  • Monitor waste metrics, identify inefficiencies, and drive continuous improvements.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Relevant qualifications in Environmental Science, Waste Management, or Sustainability (preferred).
  • Experience in waste management, biosecurity, or logistics (aviation experience a plus).
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with airport stakeholders, contractors and regulatory bodies.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting to drive informed decision-making.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage complex waste management processes.
